In recent months, a large number of formal complaints have arisen from those who own or lease a 2022 GMC Sierra Limited vehicle. The majority of these reports concern the trailer brake controller, which illuminates erroneously or interferes with the truck’s ability to brake properly when a trailer is attached. Although the manufacturer has issued two distinct safety recall campaigns impacting this make and model, neither one deals with braking system issues. For now, affected customers are left in search of permanent solutions to these recurring braking system errors and potential safety issues.
According to the owner of a 2022 GMC Sierra LImited truck, the driver depressed the brake pedal to avoid colliding with another car that changed lanes too quickly. The driver was traveling at a speed of approximately 45 miles per hour, but the brakes did not engage when the driver depressed the brake pedal. Fortunately, the driver responded quickly enough to pull the truck to the side of the road to prevent an accident. Even though the dealership inspected the vehicle, no underlying issue was discovered. Other drivers have reported warning lights about the integrated brake controller that illuminate for no reason, as well as impeded braking function at seemingly random times. The lack of clarity and information makes many GMC customers express their hesitancy about the vehicle’s overall safety.
