Over the last several months, several individuals who own or lease a 2020 Audi A3 Cabriolet C have raised concerns about air bag safety issues impacting this make and model. In 2021, Audi announced a passenger air bag recall campaign over concerns that the passenger air bag was defective and failed to activate as intended in the event of a collision or hard stop. However, many affected Audi customers have been unable to obtain the recommended recall repair, as the parts have not been made available to the dealership.
One owner of the 2020 Audi A3 Cabriolet C model reported that their car’s passenger occupant detection system has permanently failed and does not respond when a passenger is seated in the vehicle. Like many other concerned Audi customers who received the recall notice, this driver has been unable to obtain the recommended recall repair. Every time they contact the dealership, they are told that the recall repair part has not been stocked and remains unavailable. For now, these Audi customers continue to operate their vehicles, even though the passenger air bag system is not safe or functional.
