2018 Volkswagen Passat Braking System Failures

Over the past few months, numerous reports of persistent braking system issues have been lodged by those who own or lease a 2018 Volkswagen Passat. Troublesome accounts of vehicles that fail to respond when drives apply the brake pedal have been reported, with many customers calling for clear answers and lasting solutions to these safety concerns. To date, the manufacturer has issued a total of four distinct auto safety recalls impacting this make and model. One of these recalls involves a loose brake bracket that can reduce braking ability and cause a loss of vehicle control if not addressed. Unfortunately, some customers report ongoing braking system issues even after securing the recommended recall repair.

One owner of a 2018 Volkswagen Passat reported that their vehicle has experienced significant delays between when they depress the brake pedal and when the brakes respond and engage. Another driver shared a harrowing experience in which they were traveling down a steep hill. Before the driver had the chance to apply the brakes, the wheel locked up and caused the driver to lose all control of the vehicle, resulting in a crash. Fortunately, no injuries occurred as a result of this unforeseen issue. While some Volkswagen customers have had their braking issues permanently fixed by obtaining the recall repair, others continue to face recurring braking system failures.
