Those who own or lease a 2018 Ford Expedition EL Extended SUV 4×4 should be on the lookout for potential braking issues. In recent months, a number of consumer complaints have cropped up, detailing a range of braking system failures. While the manufacturer has issued a total of six recalls that affect this make and model, there has yet to be a recall that addresses braking malfunctions in particular.
One individual who leases a 2018 Ford Expedition EL Extended SUV 4×4 stated that his wife was driving the vehicle at a low speed of 15 miles per hour, and when she went to slow for a stop, the brake pedal failed to respond properly. The vehicle rear-ended the vehicle in front of her. Since the incident, the vehicle has been in the shop awaiting a clear diagnosis and fix. Another driver said that he was trying to stop his car when waiting for the intersection to clear before making a left-hand turn. When he applied the brakes, they did not respond and dropped all the way to the floorboard, ultimately causing the vehicle to speed up and narrowly avoid a crash. A number of similar complaints have been reported, but consumers are still waiting for clear answers and permanent solutions.
