2018-2019 Mazda CX-5 SUV Braking System Failures

In recent months, a wide range of braking issues have emerged from consumers who own or lease a 2018 or 2019 Mazda CX-5. Reports of overheating rotors, premature wear of brake pads, and all-out braking failures have been made from concerned individuals who have yet to receive clear answers or permanent solutions to these persistent problems. The manufacturer has issued two separate recalls for this vehicle, but neither one directly addresses braking system failures.

Multiple drivers have reported that their caliper brackets have either frozen or become stuck, resulting in the overheating of rotors and brake pads. Many of these consumers have had to had these parts replaced several times due to premature wear. Other drivers have described instances of their brakes suddenly jamming or becoming stuck, resulting in potentially dangerous consequences. One consumer even related a time when they applied their brakes to stop the vehicle, but their 2019 Mazda CX-5 responded by accelerating instead and crashed into a brick building. Other similar complaints continue to be lodged by consumers who are frustrated with these recurring issues that appear to have no clear explanations.
