Those driving a 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class C RWD model may want to pay special attention to their brakes, as many reports of brake defects are cropping up. Brakes that vibrate for no reason, seize up without warning, or emit a screeching sound have all been described by concerned consumers.
One driver detailed an instance where the vehicle was traveling along at a speed of approximately 70 mph, when the brakes began to screech. The vehicle shuddered and then completely shut off, and then brake assist warning light came on. Fortunately, the driver was able to coast the vehicle to safety. The failure could not be replicated when the car was taken to the dealer, but the owner maintains that the issue has since happened repeatedly. Another consumer reported that the brakes constantly vibrated every time they were applied. Yet another driver shared an experience of traveling at a speed of about 35 mph when the brakes locked up, causing the anti-lock brakes to engage. However, the vehicle did not fully stop, either. Upon inspection, no issues were discovered.
