2016 Kia Sportage SUV Recurring Engine Issues

People who own or lease a 2016 Kia Sportage SUV should be on the lookout for recurring engine issues. Multiple customers have reported an array of engine woes, ranging from strange noises and leaking liquids to complete engine failure when the vehicle is in motion. To date, the manufacturer has announced two safety recalls, one of which concerns an increased risk of engine compartment fire. While some customers have resolved their engine issues by obtaining the recall repair, others continue to experience these concerning engine issues.

One owner of a 2016 Kia Sportage SUV stated that their vehicle’s check engine light would illuminate intermittently, but no issue was identified. However, black fluid began to leak, causing the owner to take the SUV to the dealership. No clear issue was uncovered, and the owner said that they are still wary to drive their vehicle. Another owner shared that their 2016 Kia Sportage SUV’s motor simply stopped working and entered limp mode. The dealership had to replace the entire motor. For now, many Kia customers remain confused and frustrated about these potentially dangerous defects.
