2018-2020 Hyundai Elantra GT 5 HB Steering Problems

Those who own or lease a 2018-2020 Hyundai Elantra GT 5 HB should know that a large volume of consumer complaints have been lodged regarding problematic steering wheels and steering column. Currently, there are two recalls affecting these vehicles, but neither one addresses steering issues directly. From steering wheels that are prone to move while in motion to unresponsive steering systems, these defects are creating anxiety in drivers and passengers alike.

According to one driver, the steering wheel began to remain very stiff at all speeds, making it exceptionally difficult to maneuver the vehicle safely. This issue occurred after 4,000 miles, but the dealership was unable to diagnose or fix the problem. Another owner stated that their 2020 Hyundai Elantra GT 5 HB was in the shop for a full week to fix a variety of steering issues, but these issues started up again one week later. Even after having the entire steering assembly column replaced, a third consumer found that the steering issues grew even worse. The steering wheel seems loose and appears to flop around while the car is in motion. These concerned consumers, and numerous others, continue to voice their exasperation about these persistent issues that have yet to be acknowledged by the manufacturer.
