Recently, a number of consumer complaints from those who own or lease a 2018-2020 Honda Ridgeline PU/CC have arisen. While the complaints address a variety of issues, including engine problems and steering system malfunctions, the majority of customer complaints center on braking system issues. There are currently five safety recalls affecting these vehicles, but they do not address braking system problems. As a result, many Honda customers are left without clear answers or solutions to these persistent problems.
One owner of a 2019 Honda Ridgeline PU/CC reported that the vehicle suddenly accelerated in a parking lot, even though the brake pedal was depressed. The truck shot forward and crashed into a wall, causing the airbags to deploy. Another driver was turning into a parking spot when the dashboard illuminated with a “brake” warning sign and the truck completely halted for no apparent reason. When the driver tried to move the vehicle forward, the light touch on the gas pedal triggered a surge forward and ran the vehicle into the way. Other complaints of braking system failures continue to crop up, with no clear explanations in sight.
