2018-2019 Toyota Corolla Vehicle Speed Control Defects

In recent months, many complaints about vehicle speed control problems in the 2018 and 2019 Toyota Corolla have emerged from concerned consumers. From vehicles that fail to shift properly to sudden and random acceleration, drivers are worried about the safety of their vehicles for a variety of reasons. Although there are currently three separate recalls that affect this make and model, these do not address vehicle speed control issues, leaving many people in need of answers and solutions to these persistent problems.

A number of consumers have voiced concerns about cruise control defects in the 2018 and 2019 Toyota Corolla. According to one driver, the transmission will downshift but the throttle will not reduce while the cruise control is engaged, causing the car to suddenly increase its speed by 15 miles per hour. Conversely, the brakes will quickly engage when the transmission goes into a higher gear, violently jerking the vehicle and immediately slowing it by 15 miles per hour. Another owner described an instance where the car was placed into park, but the vehicle accelerated without warning and did not stop when the brake pedal was applied. As a result, the car crashed into a wall. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the driver was frightened and now fears for the vehicle’s safety.
